About
We are students at Cornell University doing a project for a New Media and Society communication class. The team consists of 4 of students: Lauren Clarke, Cristina Morales, Rolena Richardson, and Nicole Rivera. We have developed a blog in order to provide a public forum on the significance of corporate power in new media industries. Ultimately, the news is controlled by a few major corporations that are largely motivated by the pursuit of profits; as a result, the news presents a distorted reality provoked by the interests of journalists and owners. We will examine how the quality of information in the news is deteriorating due to increased censorship, intensified competition amongst industry leaders, and conflicts of interests among top executives.
The opinion of the public on this topic is very important to us and we encourage those who visit the site to post their comments. We have seperated the blog into pages that each discuss increased censorship, intensified competition amongst industry leaders, and conflicts of interests among top executives. In addition, we have a resources as the first 5 entries of our blog that can be used for further readings on our topic. By clicking on the categories, you are lead to resources that relate to each category.
